Music Marketing With YouTube Ads

Music Marketing With YouTube Ads

Sharing new music is hard.

A lot of artists share music on social media and on streaming platforms, but they don’t get the views or attention their music deserves.

Thankfully Independent artists can take advantage of YouTube Ads to promote their own music at a very affordable cost.

With YouTube you can promote your music, while fans are listening to their favorite song, album or music video.

This makes YouTube the best platform to introduce your music to new fans.

What do you need to get started?

  • Link to your clean YouTube video that you want to promote.
  • Google Ads account.
  • List of YouTube Channels you want to promote your music on.

Once you have these things ready, you can begin creating an effective YouTube Ads campaign.

Step 1: Create A Campaign

The first step is to choose the type of campaign you want to create. On Google Ads you can create ads for their search engine, Gmail, their display network and YouTube. In our case we will choose YouTube.

Step 2: Fill In Campaign Details

Next step is to fill in the details of your YouTube Ads campaign.

In this section you’ll be able to set up your targeting. The attributes you can use are: gender, age, location, interests, and YouTube Channels.

You'll also be setting the campaign name, the most you want to spend per view, your budget, and lastly the campaign schedule.

Step 3: Optimize Campaign

After you get a couple thousand views you can take a look at your campaign and make improvements. Get rid of any placements that are not performing well.

Why is YouTube the best platform for paid music ads?

In my opinion there's no better place to advertise your music than YouTube.

On YouTube you can target musicians that make music similar to yourself, which will increase the effectiveness of the campaigns versus other platforms like Instagram or Tik Tok.

How much does it cost?

In my experience music marketing on YouTube can cost between $0.01 to $0.10 per view.

If you want to put your music In front of 10,000 music fans it would cost you between $100 to $1000.

Promoting on Drake's channel would be more expensive than an up and coming rapper.

If you want to hire a marketing professional to take care of your music campaign, it can cost you an additional $500 - $1500 a month on top of your budget for views.
